After the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in 'Thalaivi', Kangana Ranaut will now be seen playing the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The actress said in a statement that the title of this upcoming political drama has not been decided yet and it is not even a biopic of Indira Gandhi. According to Kangana, many well-known actors will be part of this project.
Kangana's office released a statement and said, "Yes, we are working on the project and the script is in the final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi, it is a grand period film, to be precise a political drama that will help my generation to understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India, many prominent actors will be part of this film and of course I am looking forward to playing the most iconic leader that we have had in the history of Indian politics."
On Friday, Ranaut pulled out an unseen gem from her archive, where she's seen dressed as Indira Gandhi. "This is a photoshoot about iconic women I did in the beginning of my career, little did I know one day I will get to play the iconic leader on screen," she wrote.
Kangana also confirmed this and wrote on Twitter, "Happy to announce my dear friend Sai Kabir and I are collaborating on a political drama. Produced by Manikarnika Films. Written and Directed by Sai Kabir."
Director Sai Kabir, who worked with Kangana earlier in 'Revolver Rani' will write the story and screenplay, and also direct the project.
