Amidst the ongoing controversy on Sushant Singh Rajput's death, another controversy has erupted after the release of Jhanvi Kapoor starrer Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. Indian Air Force(IAF) wrote a letter to Dharma Production, Netflix and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) stated certain scenes and dialogues in the movie and trailer, which were forwarded to it for viewing, were found to “portray the IAF in an unsuitable negative light”.
NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma has supported that the movie's streaming must be stopped. Rekha wrote, "The real #GunjanSaxena must come out and clarify whether the gender discrimination shown in movie is for real? Being from Army background I can never imagine defence officers behaving like goons. Officer or not, women are always get their due respect in forces."
Now, Kangana Ranaut has lashed out at Karan Johar for maligning the image of the Indian Air Force. Kangana has requested the government of India to take back the Padma Shri from Karan Johar. She wrote, "I request government of India to take KJO’s PadmaShri back,he openly intimidated me and asked me to leave the industry on an international platform, conspired to sabotage Sushanth’s career,he supported Pakistan during Uri battle and now antinational film against our Army."
Kangana and Karan were announced as the recipients of the prestigious Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, in January this year. “I heartily congratulate him. I think he totally deserves this award. As a producer, the kind of films he backs, whether it is Kesari or Good Newwz, are commendable, as is the position he has worked to achieve. Even though his father gave him a head start, he has risen to the top because of his own efforts and merits,” she had earlier said in an interview.
