The law and order situation in UP yet again came under the scanner after the violence erupted in Kanpur over BJP Leader Nupur Sharma's remark on Prophet Mohammed. Muslim Organisation on Friday called to shut down shops at the Parade Market - one of the biggest wholesale markets in the city - over the viral comments made by BJP leader Nupur Sharma about Prophet Mohammed in a televised debate.
During the Kanpur violence, two groups came to blows at the city’s Parade Chowk, pelting stones at one another and at the police. Over a dozen people were also detained by the Police. The Kanpur Violence came under control after Police in riot gear were deployed to the area. Currently, three companies are in the area are deployed in the area to restore normalcy.

It is pertinent to mention here that the violence erupted 50 KM away from the Prime Minister of India, President of India, and the Chief Minister of UP. PM, President, and UP's CM were in the town to participate in an event when the incident took place.
