The representation of folk tales on screen with its roots deep down into realism builds an experience in itself and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara is one such classic that drives you down beneath the pit of an enigma.
The film brings traditional Daivaradhane and Bhoota Kola legacy (traditional dance forms) to life in a two-and-a-half-hour-long.
The movie is all set to release pan India tomorrow after its 30th September release in Kannada and will hit the big screen a day prior on the 16th for the Telugu fanbase.
However, there have been reports roaming around the film’s OTT release claiming that Amazon has cornered the film’s digital rights and will stream it here by the earliest of November 1st or the 2nd week. Although the makers and the production team haven’t declared anything on that footing as of now.
The movie begins with the opening plot back in the 18th century when a king gives a piece of land to the villagers in lieu of peace and joy. Several decades down the line, the descender of the king arrives at a Bhoota Kola (traditional dance in honor of the local deities) and threatens the tribals to return their land, however, ends up dying a tragic death.
20 years later, forest officer Murali (Kishore) wants to put an end to the superstitious rituals and save the forest from the villagers. Shiva (Rishab Shetty), a hot-headed henchman, stands up for the entire village.
Meanwhile, Leela (Sapthami Gowda) is appointed as a forest guard, but she is torn between her work and her ideals. Will she take a stand? Is Murali the real villain? What does landlord Devendra Suttur (Achyuth Kumar) have in mind when he helps the villagers?
The movie has made a huge impact on critics and viewers after its Kannada release and rates an outstanding 9.6 at the IMDB.

Rishab Shetty has brought in a spectacular piece of art on display, besides writing and directing he has played the lead character of Shiva in Kantara. The two main leads in Murali and Shiva are at loggerheads with each other in the movie over their duties.
As the story unfolds the want for what falls next intensifies, apart from the storyline the entire cast presents a superb piece of art on display with their exceptional performances.
