Lockdown-like restrictions are back in Karnataka. The state is in loom amid the cases of new Covid variant Omicron has been detected South Africa as over 1,000 people have come to the state from South Africa. The government said all have been tested and their samples have been sent for genome sequencing and later it was disclosed that the Covid cases were of Delta variant, not Omicron.
Amid all this, the state government has asked centre to ban international flights and has also sought booster doses from the centre.
The government has also put some restrictions:
1.) People coming from Omicron-affected nations will undergo RT-PCR tests and if tested positive will have to stay in or around the airport.
2.) Every seventh day, students in hostels will have to do an RT-PCR test.

3.) Students who have travelled from Kerala 16 days ago have to undergo an RT-PCR test.
4.) The government has advised all schools, colleges, and educational institutes to postpone or cancel public events.
5.) Hospitals, nursing homes and laboratories have asked to increase the testing among students.
6.) No big public meetings are permitted for the upcoming MLC elections, on December 10.
7.) Both doses of vaccination have been a must for visiting hotels, restaurants, movie theatres, swimming pools, public libraries, and zoos.

State Health Minister Dr Sudhakar said, “I request the 45 lakh people who are yet to take the second dose to get it on priority.”
On Sunday, The Union Health Ministry revised the guidelines for the international arrivals in the wake of the new Covid variant, Omicron – designated as a Variant of Concern (VOC) by the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the new guidelines, the passengers travelling from countries that are categorized as 'at-risk' will have to undergo testing on arrival. The new guidelines will be effective from December 1.
