Karnataka: Violence erupts during Bajrang Dal activists ‘Antim Yatra’

Section 144 has been imposed in Shivamogga for two days.

A Bajrang Dal activist, Harsha, 26, was reportedly killed on Sunday around 9:00 p.m. in Karnataka. The young man was killed by four or five men. Violence erupted in Shivamogga, Karnataka during his funeral procession.

Three culprits have been arrested by police. All of them belong to the Muslim community. The police is investigating the motive behind Harsha’s murder. During Harsha’s antim yatra, stone-pelting began in the city. The police tried to control the situation so that final rites could take place peacefully.

Harsha’s sister said, “My brother is killed for being Hindu, he died Chanting Jai shree Ram, we want justice”


BJP leader Khushbu Sundar wrote on Twitter, “#JusticeforHarsha Let’s fight for the right till justice prevails. You cannot commit a murder and get away with it. Harsha was murdered in Karnataka on Sunday over a Facebook post against the hijab. Karnataka home minister Araga Jananendra visited the hospital and met family members of Harsha. Section 144 has been imposed in Shivamogga for two days. As a precautionary measure schools and colleges will remain close in the city.
