Karwa Chauth is among the most important festivals for the Hindu married women. This day is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm by the Northern and Western part of India. On this day married women observes a day long fast for safety and long-life of their husbands.
Their fast ends by sighting the moon followed by their husband’s face. For this year’s fast we are around the edge to mark this auspicious day, however, there is a bit of confusion whether it is on the 13th or 14th of October?
As per the established rituals, Karwa Chauth falls right after the fourth day of the full moon day in the month of Kartik. Like many other Hindu festivals Karwa Chauth is also based on lunar calendar and the date as well as the auspicious timing for the rituals is decided according to the rising of the moon.
Thus, as per Drik Panchnag the 13th of October will see marking this pious day. On this occasion married women also worship Karwa Mata.
The Chaturthi tithi will commence right at 1.59 AM on the Thursday night and will end on the wee hours of Friday at 3.08 AM, that is the 14th October.
Shubh Muhurat to observe rituals:
As per the Panchnag, the suitable timing as suggested by the religious scholar will begin from 5.54 PM to 7.09 PM, implying the day long fast for the married women will begin from 6.20 in the morning of the October 13th to 8.09 PM.
When you can Sight the Moon:
The moon is expected to rise at around 8’o Clock in the night, however, it is subjected to vary in different parts of the country owing to weather conditions.
