Srinagar: On Thursday a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and 4 civillians were injured in a grenade attack by militants in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
This is the second grenade attack in less than 24 hours in south Kashmir while about a dozen such attacks have been carried out by militants in the valley, particularly in the summer capital, Srinagar, this month.
Official sources have informed that the militants hurled a grenade at a security force patrolling party at Kralyar in Anantnag. “One CRPF jawan and four civilians, including a woman, were injured in the attack”, they said, adding that the wounded were immediately rushed to a hospital.
They said that the militants have managed to escape from the spot due to chaos caused because of the explosion. “Additional security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers”, they added.
On Wednesday, three persons were injured when suspected militants hurled a hand grenade towards Police Station Damhal Hanjipora in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.
