Khakee: The Bengal Chapter was released on Netflix on March 21, 2025, and it is still one of the most-watched web series for the past many weeks. Directed by debutant duo Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter revolves around the dark nexus between the ruling party of West Bengal and the gangsters. Created by filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, Khakee Season 2 also mentions the real-life Skeleton trade that took place in West Bengal during the 90s.

Also, the political leaders and references that have been showcased in the Neeraj Pandey series resemble real-life cases and incidents. Hence, fans are wondering whether the character of gangster Sagor Talukdar played by actor Ritwik Bhowmik is also based on real life or not. Below is all you need to know about Khakee: The Bengal Chapter True STory or Khakee: The Bengal Chapter Real Story or real life Sagor Talukdar shown in Khakee Season 2-

Is Sagor Talukdar based on a real-life gangster in West Bengal?

The answer is no. Despite references to real-life incidents, the character of Sagor Talukdar is totally fictional. For those who haven't watched the series yet, Sagor was the right-hand man of another gangster named Bagha who had close ties with West Bengal's ruling party. However, Bagha was framed by his two close associates Sagor and Arjun after they killed an IPS officer named Saptrishi.

Interestingly, despite the makers have clearly mentioned that all the characters are fictional, True Scoop tried to check the real life references and found out some similarities with real life gangsters of West Bengal or let's say Kolkata that has been shown in the series.

For instance, TOI in 2002 reported that Sridhar, AKA Master, controls the largest chunk of highly lucrative South Kolkata. The report further outlined that 'apparently backed by a section of the CPM, he has extorted crores of rupees from real-estate promoters and builders but no policeman dares to go near him.'

Another gangster who was notorious in Kolkata or West Bengal was Hemen Mondal. As per India Today, after protests from the public, police were left with no option but to arrest the kingpins of gangs operating in the area, including Hemen Mondal the most prominent gang leader.
