Khalistan supporter and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, lodged in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act, has written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker to participate in the monsoon session. Amritpal Singh wants to come to the monsoon session starting from July 22.
On 23 February 2023, a crowd of thousands of people led by Amritpal Singh entered the Ajnala police station in Amritsar. After this a non-bailable warrant was issued against him. On March 18, Amritpal fled from home. The police along with the investigating agencies kept looking for him for a month. On April 23, Punjab Police arrested Amritpal from Moga.
Since then Amritpal is lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam. The Amritpal Singh, a Khalistan supporter and Khadoor Sahib MP, is currently being held in Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act. He has written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker requesting permission to participate in the upcoming monsoon session, which is set to commence on July 22.
