In a massive development, a brdige on the Khanna National Highway caught a wild fire after fire erupted in an oil tanker on the flyover. As per reports, the tanker caught fire due to the diesel kept inside. However, what cause the fire in the diesel tanker is yet to ascertained. The driver and a cleaner saved their lives by jumping from the tanker. The fire was so severe that the flames were visible spreading up to 100 meters away.
Seeing the fire, people stopped their vehicles. Fire brigade vehicles reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and brought the fire under control. In view of the accident situation, the National Highway was closed. Traffic was allowed to flow through the service lane.
After the end of truck drivers protest, the tanker was carrying diesel to Ambala via Ludhiana. The bridge near Amloh Road Chowk, Khanna caught fire due to the tanker. Both the driver and the staff were admitted to civil hospital. In view of the major incident of fire, DSP Rajesh Kumar reportedly reached the spot to prevent any untoward incident. The area was sealed. The fire officer said that after controlling the fire in the entire area, the effect of diesel will be eliminated. After which the road will be opened.
