Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has reached the stage to launch 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan'. He is also accompanied by wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur. Rain caused a two-and-a-half-hour delay in the start of the program. The Chief Minister reached Jalandhar at 4 o'clock but the program got delayed due to rain.
Due to rain, the gallery built for the CM and other VVIPs in Jalandhar's Guru Gobind Singh Stadium for the program was wet The couches and chairs that were positioned on the stage were wet.
After the rain stopped, the stage's water was drained. New chairs were put in their place, and the wet couches and chairs were removed. Due to all this, the program which started at four o'clock got delayed.
At the Guru Gobind Singh Stadium in Jalandhar, preparations for the beginning of Punjab's major sporting event, "Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan," were finished up until the morning. For the torch march that will take place at the stadium, 13 medal winners from the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games were selected. Baljit Singh Dhillon, Simranjit Kaur Chakar, Rajinder Singh Rahelu, Manjit Kaur, Vikas Thakur, Gurjit Kaur, Damaneet Singh Mann, Swaran Singh Virak, Sukhpal Singh Pali, Harpreet Singh Happy, Suman Sharma, Pranav Chopra, and Gurpreet Singh are a few of these.
After being inaugurated by the Chief Minister, the formal start of the Games will be on 1st September. Sports fairs will be held at block level from 1st September to 7th September. There will be volleyball, athletics, football, kabaddi, kho-kho and tug of war competitions.
In the second phase, competitions will be held at the district level from September 12 to 22. These include Athletics, Football, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Handball, Softball, Judo, Roller Skating, Gatka, Kick Boxing, Hockey, Net Ball, Badminton, Basketball, Power Lifting, Lawn Tennis, Wrestling, Swimming, Boxing, Table Tennis and weight lifting players will be included.
In the final phase, there will be competitions at the state level which will run from October 10 to October 21. There will be competitions in kickboxing, archery, shooting, chess, rowing, gymnastics, fencing and powerlifting.
