Farmers' Delhi March is all set to restart on Wednesday after the union leaders rejected Centre Proposal to buy a few crops on MSP over the next five during the fourth round of talks. Over 14,000 farmers have arrived to march to Delhi and they have brought JCBs, hydraulic cranes, poclains, etc so that they can uproot any obstacle that the Haryana Police, anti-riot squad, and paramilitary forces throw in front of them. However, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher before the start of the Delhi March of farmers addressed a press conference and appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a legal guarantee on MSP from Delhi or else the nation would see 'khoon ki Holi'. Below is what Sarwan Singh Pandher said-
"We tried our best from our side. We attended the meetings, every point was discussed and now the decision has to be taken by the central government. We will remain peaceful…A son from ever family have come to march to Delhi. We promise you to protest peacefully. But, whatever we are seeing the centre has deployed paramilitary forces. They will play 'Kisaan aur Majdoor ki khoon ki holi' (bloodbath). We understand that you must maintain the law and order but we might have also voted for you to become the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister should come forward and accept our demands. Rs 1.5-2 lakh crore is not a huge amount...We should be allowed to remove these barriers and march towards Delhi."
Pandher further said, "Our top leaders will move forward, and the entire world will see us moving ahead peacefully. If the government feels that by killing the farmers their problems will be solved, then it can do so. But we will continue to move forward peacefully."
Farmers Protest 2024 Update
Around 14,000 farmers have assembled at Shambhu on the Punjab-Haryana border, as per government estimates reported by a newswire. Farmers are utilising 1,200 tractor trolleys, 300 cars, and 10 mini-buses to make their way to Delhi. Additionally, the Home Ministry estimates that 4,500 protesters with 500 tractors were gathered at the Dhabi-Gujran border point.
In a letter to the Punjab government, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has expressed concern over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state, attributing it to miscreants posing as farmers. It said that these “miscreants” have engaged in stone-pelting and brought along heavy machinery, like bulldozers and earthmovers, to the Shambhu border with Haryana.
Notably, Haryana Police have also written to Punjab Police to seize all earthmoving vehicles. As a result, a clash between Punjab Police and Farmers at Shambhu Border was reported on Wednesday morning. SHO Inspector Amanpal Singh Virk and Mohali SP Jagvinder Singh Cheema were injured. Currently, both were admitted to the hospital. Police set up barricades 5 kilometers before the Shambhu border on orders of the Punjab DGP; Police stopped farmers from bringing heavy machinery like JCBs and forklifts towards the Shambhu border.
