Recently, Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar has revealed that he had started taking drugs at the age of 13 due to his complicated family situations.
In an interview Prateik shared his reason behind taking drugs and said, “For many years, I’ve been speaking about this, but, that story has ended now, and we’ve moved forward. People think, ‘Oh, he entered films, got fame and money, and then started taking drugs.’ No, that’s not true. My drug use began when I was thirteen or twelve-and-a-half years old. It wasn’t because of the film industry. Unfortunately, I had a different kind of upbringing, and my family situation was a bit complicated, because of which, I started using drugs. It’s not that fame and money in films led me to it— I had already started using drugs then.”
“And yes, it did affect me, and still does, especially in relationships. Drugs are associated with trauma. As long as that trauma isn’t settled, it will continue to impact relationships and other areas of life. But there comes a time when you have to work to make things better, which I’ve been doing for many years. My fiancée has been helping me improve in many ways. We’re helping each other grow. That’s life," he further added.

Prateik Patil Babbar is an Indian actor who predominantly works in Hindi films. He is the son of late actress Smita Patil and former MP Raj Babbar. He had begun his career as a production assistant before pursuing a career in acting. Before his screen debut, he had appeared in television advertisements for several products, including Nestle KitKat. He has received Filmfare Award and a Stardust Award. He married film producer, Sanya Sagar, on 23rd January 2019 after dating for few years. The couple got separated in 2020 and divorced in January 2023. Following this, in January 2024, he got engaged to his girlfriend, actress Priya Banerjee.
