Spain Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Burhan Wani's father Muzaffar Wani on the occasion of 75th Independence Day hoisted the tricolour at a school in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday.
Muzaffar Wani, who is a teacher by profession, unfolded the national flag inside the premises of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Tral, the officials said.
Terrorist Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter by the security forces in July 2016 in South Kashmir. The encounter of Wani had provoked a vast five months of summer protests in the Kashmir valley in which more than 100 people were left dead and thousands were injured.
The recently announced union territory has passed a circular to all the departments including the education department to make sure that the national flag is hoisted in all the offices on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day.
This was announced as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
The video of Muzaffar Wani hoisting the flag has gone viral on social media and received a mixed reaction from the people. Many applauded Mr Wani for the act and commented that this is the new Kashmir that was guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While some stated that Wani would have lost his job if he had not visited the flag.
See how people reacted to the video:-
Seeing Burhan Wani’s father being forced to unfurl the flag is the saddest thing. His son was killed by the occupiers, which led to the 2016 protests and the mass blinding. There’s no doubt that they had him specifically do it to mock his son even in death.
