The much-awaited crime docuseries Killer Sally will be released on Netflix on November 2, 2022. Killer Sally trailer was released on October 19, 2022, and ever since then fans have been waiting for the docuseries so that they can know the hidden facts of the infamous case named 'The Sally-Ray McNeil Murder'. The upcoming Netflix docuseries Killer Sally was helmed by award-winning filmmaker Nanette Burstein and produced by Traci Carlson, Robert Yapkowitz, and Richard Peete of Neighborhood Watch. For the unversed, Burstein is best known for co-directing the Academy Award-nominated documentary On the Ropes and directing the Emmy-nominated docuseries Hillary. Since Killer Sally is a docuseries, it is indeed based on the true story of former American professional bodybuilder Sally McNeil.

Sally McNeil is a former American professional bodybuilder who is infamously called 'Killer Sally', hence the name of the upcoming docuseries on Netflix. Killer Sally docuseries probe and showcase the most notorious crime in bodybuilding history involving the couple’s rocky marriage and the gruesome murder of the husband on Valentine’s Day in 1995. To be precise, Killer Sally will showcase both sides of the story involving Sally McNeil who was convicted of the second-degree murder of her husband and fellow bodybuilder, Ray McNeil. Sally is a convicted murderer who shot her husband Ray with a shotgun twice. Killer Kally real story docuseries will also shift the spotlight on whether Sally shot her husband in self-defense or not.

For the unversed, on March 19, 1996, Sally McNeil was convicted of the second-degree murder of her husband and fellow bodybuilder, Ray McNeil, and was sentenced to 19 years to life.

Sally met Ray when they were both serving in the United States Marine Corps. The duo bonded over their love of fitness and eventually tied the knot in 1987. Three years after marrying, Sally was discharged from the Navy and eventually found alternative ways to make money. Everything was going well between Sally and Ray, however, in 1994 tensions started prevailing between the couple. Reportedly, Sally and Ray came to a head when she was confronted by one of her husband's mistresses. Then on February 14, 1995, the two had in a massive fight that turned fatal. Sally, who was 27 at the time, shot Ray twice with a shotgun, once in the abdomen and then in the head. Notably, Saly immediately called the Police and claimed that she killed him out of self-defense and that he had been beating her.

However, during the trial, prosecutors challenged Sally's domestic abuse and self-defense story as investigators found the couple was using steroids, leading people to dub the murder the 'roid rage killing.' They argued that the killing was premeditated and Sally was found guilty of second-degree murder in 1996.
