With the recent biopic fever taking over the OTT domain of late, another close look at a controversial personality is set to debut on Netflix this month. As per reports, the new documentary King of Clones is all set to debut on 23rd June 2023 on the aforementioned streaming platform. The film will chronicle the rise and fall of Korea’s infamous scientist Hwang Woo Suk, clocking at a taut runtime of 1 hour 25 minutes, promising an unbiased and unfiltered take on the person featured in the documentary.
The documentary will tell the story of a scientist who holds a degree in veterinary science along with a master’s degree and a doctorate in theriogenology, the study of animal reproduction. He rose to fame with his successful cloning of cows and pigs. He also reported having successfully created human embryonic stem cells through the process of cloning in his journal Science in 2004 and 2005. Despite all the breakthroughs, he was accused of committing ethical violations by using eggs from illegal sources such as his own two researchers which he admitted after denying them at first.
The film will put him on an objective lens where he will put up his own views about all his misdeeds and hold himself accountable for them. As a person who has divisive takes on him in the public eye, this documentary will surely aim at providing a new perspective on the figure and bring out more riveting and personal facts about him.
