Two franchises have complained verbally about players being sought by the newly added Lucknow franchise, according to a BCCI official. If this is proven to be true, the official further stated that appropriate action will be done.
"We didn't get a letter, but we did have a verbal complaint from two franchises about the Lucknow team stealing players." According to Inside Sport, a BCCI official stated, "We are looking into it and will take appropriate action if it proves to be genuine.”
The BCCI official further stated that the teams' current balance should not be altered. The official went on to say that it's tough to prevent these types of approaches, especially when there's a lot of competition, and that it's not fair to the current teams when players are contacted in this way.
"We don't want to disrupt the balance." When there is severe competition, such things are unavoidable. But it's not fair to the current teams when they're attempting to strike a balance," the BCCI executive said.
Rashid Khan has already told SRH that he wants to be the franchise's first player to be retained, or he will quit. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) and KL Rahul are also allegedly in negotiations regarding the right-handed batsman leaving the team and going on.
According to reports, the Lucknow franchise has offered Team India's T20 vice-captain a staggering salary. According to Insidesport.in, Rahul has been promised more than Rs 20 crore (INR 200 million) by the Lucknow franchise. If this is true, Rahul would become the most expensive player in Indian Premier League history.
If Rahul decides to stay at PBKS, he has the option of negotiating a higher salary than the defined slab of Rs 16 crore (INR 160 million) for the first-choice retained player.
Rahul, on the other hand, is unlikely to return to Punjab Kings after failing to lead the team to their first trophy in his two seasons as captain. While the squad didn't have much success, Rahul ran outstanding campaigns on his own. He was the third-highest run-getter in the IPL 2021, with 626 runs in 13 matches.
Rahul has played 94 matches in the IPL and has a total of 3273 runs at an average of over 41. If he joins the Lucknow franchise before the IPL 2022 season, he is expected to be the team's captain.
