Born on October 25, 1995, Gurjit Kaur is an Indian Female field hockey player. She is right now in Tokyo, playing for India, and has recently defeated Australia with 1-0; the only goal being shot by her and this goal is going in the history books. After this victory, the Indian team is heading towards the semi-finals which will be held on 4th August 2021, either at 7 AM or at 3.30 PM. She is the drag-flicker in the Indian field Hockey team.

1. She belongs to a farming family in Miadi Kalan village which is in Amritsar, Punjab.
2. Her father used to take her and her elder sister 13km far on a cycle to provide them quality education from a private school and he used to wait outside the school till the time it was not over.

3. Seeing this it was not feasible, they decided to send them to a boarding school, 70 km away in one of the best schools for women’s hockey, where they realized their passion for the game.
4. Their love for the game helped them with getting free education and meals, which was a relief for their parents.
5. After coming to Jalandhar, she became more serious about drag-flicking. Right now she is both a defender as well as a drag-flicker.
6. She got placed as a junior clerk in the Indian Railways, Allahabad.
7. Her favorite workout is Core and Fitness, and her favorite winning moment is Sr Asia Cup Final Match.
8. Her role model is Sandeep Singh, who is a former Indian hockey team captain.

9. She first played in 2014 for Senior National Camp and was made a permanent member of the Indian women's hockey team in 2017.
10. She has been trained by Sjoerd Marijne and Toon Siepman who are Dutch coaches. The former asked her to change her stick for improving her game and the latter helped her with footwork as well as posture.
11. She came underscan in the 2017 Asian Cup, where The Indian team was qualified for Hockey World Cup.
12. In 2018, she did a series of 8 goals and became the highest goal scorer, she also converted 7 penalty corners in the Hockey World Cup quarter-finals.
13. She has now lead the Indian Hockey team to the semi-finals, after defeating Australia in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics quarter-finals and the goal will be recorded in the history of hockey.
