Fans who were eagerly waiting for Bollywood's iconic comedy movie Hera Pheri 3 might have to be sad as actor Akshay Kumar has reportedly pulled out of the movie. Akshay Kumar who played the character in its earlier two installments- Hera Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri, was expected to work in the movie. However, reports suggest that Akshay Kumar has decided to not act in sequels of his multiple comedy movies which include- Hera Pheri 3, Welcome, and Awara Pagal Deewana. As per reports, Producer Firoz Nadiadwala met Akshay Kumar multiple times at his office to discuss the possibility of reviving three comedy franchises – Hera Pheri, Welcome, and Awara Pagal Deewana. Despite several meetings Akshay Kumar decided to part ways with Hera Pheri 3 and other comedy sequels. Reports further suggest Akshay could not align with the broad script ideas. Furthermore, a source was quoted by a news portal saying that Akshay Kumar is well aware of his fans’ expectations of him in these comedy franchises, and therefore, he refused to compromise on the quality of these scripts, as attempts to remake these sequels without proper thought and with other actors have already failed in the past.

Hera Pheri 3 was announced years back with Neeraj Vora returning as the director and John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan coming on board. However, there were no confirmation given on the availability of Akshay Kumar by the makers at that time. As a result, fans started a social media campaign against Hera Pheri makers. Following that due to unknown reasons, the film was shelved. Then in July 2022, producer Firoz Nadiadwala reintroduced Hera Pheri 3 with its original star cast which included Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. Now, with Akshay Kumar pulled out from the movie, Karthik Aryan has been roped in by the makers.
