Covid-19 outburst in Kolkata! In the last 24 hours, more than 100 doctors have been tested positive for Covid-19 in the state from three different hospitals, as per the data revealed by the state health department.
All positively tested doctors have been quarantined in the institutional centre. An official informed, “The doctors have been asked to go for institutional quarantine”. He further said that contract tracing and the process of clinical examination in all three hospitals have been started.
The official, while telling the numbers, said, 70 doctors of Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital, 24 medical practitioners of Chittaranjan Seva Sadan and Shishu Sadan Hospital in Kalighat have tested Covid-19 positive, adding, 12 from the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology have contacted to the virus.

Meanwhile, according to state government data, daily Covid-19 cases in West Bengal have increased more than 11 times in a week, while in Kolkata, the surge has increased more than 14 times over the same period.
Bengal registered 6,153 illnesses on Sunday, with Kolkata contributing 3,194 of them, according to a health department bulletin. In wake of the sudden spike in Covid cases, West Bengal on Sunday announced certain restrictions on the movement of people and public transport from Monday onwards.
