The D-Day is finally here and fans are all set to witness more than 2 months of cricketing extravaganza i.e. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After the completion of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 which Team India won, fans are eagerly waiting for the start of IPL 2025. IPL 2025 will kickstart with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (ECB) at the iconic Eden Gardens on Saturday i.e. March 22. Before the start of the match, the IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony will take place, and a plethora of Bollywood celebrities are likely to perform in the event. Accuweather has predicted that Kolkata will witness rainfall on March 22, 2025. In fact, the weather website has predicted that there is a 90% chance of precipitation and an 18% chance of thunderstorms in Kolkata, West Bengal on Saturday. What is even more worrying is the timing of rainfall in Kolkata. on Friday, Accuweather predicted that Kolkata would witness rainfall throughout the day at some intervals. It had even predicted rainfall in Kolkata from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Interestingly, the IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony timing is at 6 pm. Hence, if there is rainfall in Eden Gardens, then it is possible that a star-studded opening ceremony will have to be cancelled and KKRvsRCB can start directly.
True Scoop reached Accuweather on Saturday and it found that there is a slight change in prediction. The Weather department stated that a yellow alert had been issued for lightning from 8:30 am to 11: 30 am (IST). Furthermore, it predicted that Kolkata will witness 2 hours of rain. There will be cloud cover throughout the day.
As per the Apple weather app, there will be cloud cover in Kolkata on March 22. However, there is no rainfall prediction. Apple Weather predicts that Kolkata will witness rainfall on March 23 and not on March 22. Hence, fans are advised to remain hopeful and most probably IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony will on the scheduled time.

IPL opening ceremony 2025 is scheduled to take place on March 22, 2025, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The grand event will start at 6:00 PM IST, just before the first match of the season between KKR and RCB, which begins at 7:30 PM IST. The IPL 2025 Opening ceremony will be broadcast both on OTT and Live TV. On OTT, IPl 2025 can be watched on JioHotstar, while on live TV it can be watched on Star Sports Network.
