Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu once again criticised Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi over delays in submitting plea towards bail to former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in Behbal Kalan Kotkapura firing case.
“Channi government lacks political will to deliver justice to people of Punjab," asserted Sidhu.
Sidhu’s remarks come a day after he lashed out at 'in question' Advocate General APS Deol for latter's statement on the 2015 sacrilege case.
While speaking outside the state Assembly, Sidhu accused the ruling dispensation of delaying the filing of a special leave petition against the blanket bail granted to former DGP Saini, one of the key people named in the Behbal Kalan police firing cases.
He went on to say that the new SIT has been working on the Kotkapura police firing case for one day longer than the six-month and that no concrete steps toward justice have been taken. He went after the DGP and the AG once more, claiming that the party can choose between the compromised officers and him.
"I have stood on principles and high moral ground, and I am not among those who changed their stand after Capt Amarinder Singh was ousted," Sidhu said, adding the "people of Punjab were waiting for justice in the sacrilege case, and that the state government lacked the "will" to deliver it."
"I have never and will never, compromise. Justice in the sacrilege case is not, for me, a means of gaining power like it is for others. I will fight for justice with all my might," Sidhu declared as he veiled an attack on CM Channi.
The statement by PPCC chief comes just two after, AG Deol stated, “Navjot Singh Sidhu's repeated statements aim to derail the State government's sincere efforts to ensure justice in the drug and sacrilege cases. In order to gain political advantage over his political colleagues, Sidhu is spreading false information.”

Sidhu has been attacking the “tainted officials” along with CM Channi for a long time now. However, the newly elected party top brass seems to be firm on his decision of the appointment of individuals.
