Team India former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Monday lambasted former Pakistani wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal over his shameful and derogatory remarks on Sikhs during the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match 2024. When India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 match was at its peak, Kamran Akmal while sitting in a Pakistani news media passed a racist slur on Team India speedster Arshdeep Singh. Kamran Akmal was sitting on the Pakistani news channel ARY News when he passed a racist '12'0 clock' racist Sikh joke and shamefully started to laugh at it. The distasteful remarks by Akmal went viral on social media in no time and it drew sharp reactions from all about. Even, Harbhajan Singh lambasted the Pakistani cricketer.
Harbhajan Singh wrote, "Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. You should know the history of sikhs before u open ur filthy mouth. We Sikhs saved ur mothers and sisters when they were abducted by invaders, the time invariably was 12 o’clock . Shame on you guys.. Have some Gratitude @KamiAkmal23."
After the outrage, Kamran Akmal issued an apology. Akmal on his official X handle wrote, "I deeply regret my recent comments and sincerely apologize to @harbhajan_singh and the Sikh community. My words were inappropriate and disrespectful. I have the utmost respect for Sikhs all over the world and never intended to hurt anyone. I am truly sorry."
Notably, it was Arshdeep Singh who scored 9 runs in the end while batting and bowled the ultimately over due to which Pakistan could not chase even a small target of 120 runs at the T20 World Cup in New York. What was even more shameful was nobody objected to Kamran's remarks. Instead, everyone started laughing and even started contributing to his shameful remarks about the Sikh community.
Coming back to the India vs Pakistan T20 WC 2024 match, the Men In Blue won the battle by 6 runs. Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged player of the match for his game-changing spell for dismissing Babar, Rizwan, and Iftekar.
