Gangster-turned-activist Lakha Sidhana on Monday stormed inside Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir School and confronted the Principal for allegedly not teaching Punjabi. Lakha Sidhana shared the video of his confrontation with the school administration and appealed to Punjabis to save themselves. Lakha Sidhana's video is now going viral and his confrontation has left netizens divided on social media.
In the viral video, Lakha Sidhana can be seen arguing with the Principal of the school. Lakha Sidhana gives the Principal a book written in Gurmukhi and asks him to read it. The Principal says that he does not how to read it. Thereafter, Lakha Sidhana asked his aides to pan the camera towards the photos that were kept in the Principal's chamber. Lakha Sidhana points out that the pictures kept in the office are of Hindutva leaders like M. S. Golwalkar and more.
"You stay in Punjab, you eat from Punjab then why speaking in Punjab is a problem?" asked Lakha Sidhana. Lakha Sidhana reportedly alleged that the school is not teaching Punjabi to students and is imposing fines on students who speak Punjabi. "Who is Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir School to impose Hindi and Sanskrit on Punjabis. You are promoting Hindi, and Sanskrit, killing Punjabi," said Lakha. After the school official stated that speaking Punjabi is not an issue, Lakha asked the students who informed them that they were not able to speak it in the school.
For those who are unaware, Vidya Bharati organization is the educational wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It runs one of the largest private network of schools in India, operating 12,000 schools.
Lakha Sidhana arrested?
Unverified reports suggest that Lakha Sidhana on Tuesday was arrested by Punjab Police. As per reports, Lakha Sidhana was protesting outside Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir School. Lakha alleged that the school is not teaching Punjabi to students and is imposing fines on students who speak Punjabi.
