Expressing happiness over results of local bodies’ elections in the state, Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary said that the landslide victory was a testament to pro-people policies pursued by Congress government during the last four years.
“People have again reposed their faith in Congress and given a thumping majority to the party in the semifinals to 2022 legislative assembly polls. Whereas on one hand, the Punjab Government has worked for the welfare of the public, the BJP-led Central Government brought in anti-farmers laws and crony capitalism. The voters have responded accordingly, and the results are a tight slap on the face of BJP and Akalis,” he said.
Former Punjab Youth Congress President and Phillaur assembly constituency incharge Vikramjit Chaudhary thanked the people for the huge mandate and said that the newly elected candidates will serve the public with even more dedication.
He stated that the results were a stamp of approval on the last four years of Congress government in Punjab and another proof of public trust in Captain Amarinder Singh’s leadership.
Vikramjit Chaudhary further said that the voters rejected those who brought in undemocratic and anti-farmers policies. “Punjab is not going to forget those who deceived our farmers and will punish them in assembly polls next year also. The rout of Akalis and BJP shows that people are fed up with their antics and no longer trust them,” he added.
