Punjab & Haryana High Court on Thursday formed a SIT that will work under the leadership of Special DGP Prabodh and investigate the Lawrence Bishnoi Interview Case. For the unversed, Punjab & Haryana High Court had taken suo moto cognizance after notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi gave multiple interviews to a news channel from jail. The Punjab government on Thursday handed over a list of senior IPS Officers that was asked by the court itself in order to form an SIT that will probe the sensational interview of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
While Special DGP Prabodh Kumar will be heading the SIT investigation, two more officers will reportedly be included. Not only this, but the High Court directed the Police to take down Lawrence Bishnoi's interview from social media.
Earlier on Tuesday, the High Court had sought names of officers of SP rank or above from the Punjab government for investigation. The court said that there are many excellent officers in Punjab Police, who are capable of investigating. Names of these officers should be given and these officers should not be less than SP rank.
Advocate Tanu Bedi, who is assisting the court in this case, had also raised questions on the investigation conducted by the SIT into the jail interview of Lawrence Bishnoi. Bedi had reportedly pointed out shortcomings in this investigation and said that it could have been done in a better way. It is impossible to believe that this interview took place without the connivance of the jail administration.
