Least polluted cities, Cities Lowest AQI, Cleanest Cities Lowest AQIs: With the completion of the festival of lights and the start of the crop-cutting season in India and Pakistan, the spotlight is on the worsening Air Quality Index in Asian Countries. India and Pakistan are witnessing a surge in pollution levels resulting in increasing AQI levels, there are cities that have registered an Air Quality Index level of less than 20, making them the cleanest of all. Below is a list of the five cleanest cities in the world with the lowest AQI levels-
- As per Swiss group IQAir, Russia's Krasnoyarsk on Monday was the cleanest city in the world with an AQI of 8.
- Ukraine's Kyiv is number 2 in the cleanest cities list of IQAIR real-time list with 13 AQI.
- Australia's Melbourne is number 3 on the list with 14 AQI.
- New Zealand's Auckland is number 4 on the list with 16 AQI.
- Finland's Helsinki is number 5 on the list with 17 AQI.
- Canada's Vancouver is number 6 on the list with 18 AQI.
Most Polluted Cities of the world with the highest AQI
1) As per Swiss group IQAir, Delhi was the most polluted city on Monday with 404 AQI.
2) Lahore, Pakistan is number 2 on the list with AQI 227.
3) Kolkata is number 3 on the list with AQI 169.
4) Wuhan, China is number 4 on the list with AQI 156.
It is pertinent to mention here that on Sunday, Lahore, which is Pakistan’s second-largest city, topped IQAir’s real-time list of the world’s most polluted cities. Lahore's AQI touched 1900. For this, Pakistan accused India. Senior Minister of Punjab Aurangzeb blamed the winds-carrying pollutants from neighbouring India, leading to an “unexpected” air pollution situation in Pakistan. Aurangzeb was quoted saying, "This cannot be solved without talks with India," adding that the provincial government plans to initiate talks through Pakistan's foreign ministry.
