Late liquor baron Ponty Chadha aka Gurdeep Singh's South Delhi farmhouse on Friday was demolished by the Delhi Development Authority. The DDA in its statement on Saturday stated that Ponty Chadha aka Gurdeep Singh's farmhouse was spread over about 10 acres in Chhatarpur, South Delhi. His farmhouse was worth about Rs 400 crores.
DDA in its statement said, "Delhi Development Authority demolished the Farmhouse of high profile liquor baron, Late Ponty Chadha alias Gurdeep Singh, spread over about 10 acres in Chhatarpur, South Delhi, worth about 400 crores, yesterday. Today, the exercise of demolition of the main building over the remaining land of the farmhouse is going on."
As per reports, the high-profile liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep died in a shootout at their farmhouse in New Delhi in 2012. Reports further suggest that officials revealed that two brothers had a meeting with each other around noon over a property dispute. The meeting between them started with no arguments but turned violent after a fresh dispute. Hardeep opened fire at Ponty following which the liquor baron's bodyguard shot Hardeep.
Ponty Chadha owned a business empire worth around Rs.8,000 crore. Under the Mayawati regime in 2009, Ponty was the sole distributorship for liquor in Uttar Pradesh and this is how he expanded his business empire.
