On Tuesday, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has said that live-in-relationship is morally and socially unacceptable. High Court once again rejected a plea related to a live-in relationship and stated that these kinds of relations are unethical.
Petitioners, runaway couple, Gulza Kumari, 19, and Gurwinder Singh, 22 have said in the petition that they need protection and were living together and would get married shortly. They asked for protection from Kumari’s parents.

On May 11, Justice HS Madaan in his order said, “As a matter of fact, the petitioners in the grab of filing the present petition are seeking seal of approval on their live-in-relationship, which is morally and socially not acceptable and no protection order in the petition can be passed.”
“The petition stands dismissed accordingly.”
According to the petitioner’s counsel JS Thakur, both were living together in Tarn Taran district.
As Gulza’s parents did not approve of their relationship, the couple could not get a marriage certificate because Ms kumari’s ID proofs were in possession of her family.
