With Aam Aadmi Party taking over the reins of the government in Punjab, lobbying for the post of Chief Secretary has intensified in the state. Names of top bureaucrats are doing rounds in the corridors of power.
The current Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, a 1990 batch IAS officer, appointed by Channi Government replaced Vini Mahajan.
As per information, the appointment of the Chief Secretary and DGP are the biggest transfers expected once a new government is formed. For the post of Chief Secretary, the names of VK Singh and Anurag Aggarwal are being considered in place of Anirudh Tewari. Apart from these, Sarvajit Singh and Ravneet Kaur are also in the race. It may be noted that Anurag Agarwal and VK Singh are 1990 batch IAS officers.
At the same time, the reshuffle in the police department is being ruled out. The reason for this is that VK Bhawra has been made DGP through the UPSC panel. According to the UPSC panel, no change can be made before 2 years. The Punjab government had to keep them under compulsion with these rules.
Why CS Anirudh Tiwari not been replaced yet by the Bhagwant Mann party?
Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari is a 1990 batch IAS officer. He is an honest man appointed when the Channi government was in power. Bhagwant Mann and his party do not want to appoint any such officer with a tainted image. They are trying to bring the best officers for the growth and development of Punjab. Due to this, no decision has been taken yet regarding the replacement of the Chief Secretary in Punjab.
