Amit Shah scheduled rally in Jadavpur Lok Sabha seat was dropped on Monday May 13, 2019 after the state government rejected him permission to land his chopper and conduct a public address at Baruipur.
BJP national president Amit Shah on Monday dared West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to arrest him for chanting “Jai Shri Ram”, claiming that the TMC head can stop him from attending rallies in Bengal, but won’t be able to stop BJP victory march in the state.
Addressing a rally at Canning, the candidate angrily remarked, “Mamatadi gets angry if someone chants Jai Shri Ram. I am chanting Jai Shri Ram here today. If you (Mamata) have the guts, arrest me. I will be in Kolkata tomorrow.” On the same note, Amit Shah had said at a rally last week: "Lord Ram is a part of the culture of India... Can anybody stop people from taking his name? I want to ask Mamata didi, if Shri Ram's name is not taken in India, will it be chanted in Pakistan?" which was logically sarcastic on his part.
Prakash Javadekar also questioned on the same saying, "This is murder of democracy. The EC should take cognizance of the matter. If important leaders are not allowed to hold rallies then what is the meaning of elections." The BJP has compelled the Election Commission to act against the Bengal government for blocking Shah's rally.
Amit Shah is of the view that Mamata Ji is scared of her nephew defeat who is contesting from one of the seats and that's why the lady has canceled the permission for our rally.
