Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C on Tuesday said that 226 nominations have been filed for 13 Lok Sabha seats on the last day of filing of nominations for the Lok Sabha elections-2024, taking the total tally of nominations to 598 in the state from May 7 to May 14.
15 nominations have been filed from Gurdaspur, the majority of which are independents. Similarly, 18 nominations have been filed from Amritsar, including Emaan Singh Mann from the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).
As many as 15 nominations have been filed from Khadoor Sahib, including Harpal Singh from the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). 18 nominations have been filed from Jalandhar, including Sarabjit Singh from the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).
10 nominations have been filed from Hoshiarpur. These include Jaswant Singh from the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). 23 nominations have been filed from Anandpur Sahib and 31 from Ludhiana, major of them are independents candidates.
17 candidates have filed their nomination papers from Fatehgarh Sahib. These include Amar Singh of the Congress and Geja Ram of the Bharatiya Janata Party. 16 nominations have been filed from Faridkot. These include Karamjit Singh Anmol of the Aam Aadmi Party.
19 nominations have been filed from Ferozepur. 17 nominations have been filed in Bathinda, 15 in Sangrur and 12 in Patiala, most of whom are independents. Sibin C said that nomination papers will be scrutinized on May 15 and candidates can withdraw their nominations papers till May 17.
