With less than a month to go before the voting for the seventh phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 takes place in Punjab, multiple candidates of various parties on Friday filed their nominations. Lok Sabha candidates from Punjab such as Charanjit Singh Channi, Sushil Kumar Rinku, Ravneet Bittu, Balwinder Kumar, etc filed their nominations and submitted their affidavits making their assets and liabilities public. While multiple candidates have not filed their nominations for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the spotlight has now shifted to their net worth- their assets and liabilities. The former Indian diplomat, Taranjit Singh Sandhu who is fighting Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Amritsar from BJP ticket is the candidate with the highest assets till now. As per reports, 61-year-old Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Friday filed his nomination papers in Amritsar for the June 1 Lok Sabha polls. According to his affidavit, Sandhu declared moveable and immovable assets owned by him and his wife to be Rs 10.88 crore and 29.04 crore, respectively. The former Indian diplomat has declared Rs 1.10 lakh cash in hand, while his spouse Reenat Sandhu has Rs 20,000 cash in hand. Sandhu does not have any vehicle in his name. He has gold ornaments worth Rs 3.31 lakh while his spouse has gold jewellery worth Rs 29.81 lakh.
Talking about the Punjab Lok Sabha Election candidate with the lowest net worth or asset, jailed Pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh sits at the bottom. Amritpal Singh, who is currently lodged in Assam's Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act, has declared assets worth Rs 1,000. Amritpal will be fighting Lok Sabha Elections 2024 as an independent candidate from Khadoor Sahib in Punjab. Amritpal has Rs 1,000 bank balance in the SBI branch, Rayya, Baba Bakala, in Amritsar.
However, Amritpal Singh's wife Kirandip Kaur owns movable assets worth Rs 18.37 lakh. It comprises Rs 20,000 cash in hand, gold jewellery worth Rs 14 lakh, and 4,000 GBP (pound) equivalent to Rs 4,17,440, in account at Revolut Ltd, London, UK.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab candidate with the highest net worth or lowest net worth can be changed as many candidates are yet to file their nominations to fight Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
