The truck drivers and transporters are on a three-day strike in protest of the Hit and run law introduced by the Central Government. Due to this massive shortage of fuel is being witnessed all across the state, people are rushing their local petrol pumps in the hopes of getting their reserves of fuel. The pumps were seen to be severely overcrowded which prompted the police to take action. The Ludhiana police was seen issuing challans and maintaining the traffic outside the petrol pumps.
Truck drivers across the country have gone on strike over the laws being brought by the Centre Government. Due to which people are facing a lot of trouble. Due to lack of oil at petrol pumps, people were also seen facing these problems somewhere and expressed their anger against the government. Not only this, traffic had to be controlled by the police personnel who arrived outside the petrol pump. They were also seen issuing challans to which the people protested.
The pump operators say that due to the stoppage of oil supply, their stocks have been cleared. Amidst the fuel crisis due to the trucker’s and transporter’s strike, several major cities of Punjab has seen a rise in panic buying of fuel. People are buying more than they need which has led to a severe shortage of fuel in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Bathinda among others. Several of the Petrol Pumps in Amritsar were rushed by panicked drivers looking to fill their containers and tanks with reserve fuel furthter exacerbating the shortage.
