Candy Montgomery was married to Pat Montgomery, an electrical engineer by profession. The duo had a son and a daughter together. Soon, In 1977, Candy Montgomery along with her husband moved to Colin County, Texas. After shifting, the duo started attending the Methodist Church of Lucas where Candy Montgomery became close friends with Betty Gore, a middle school teacher. On the day of Gore's killing, her husband was out of town.
