News has come to the fore of an 8-year-old boy which shows the limits of cruelty crossed by humans.

How did Sehaj go missing?

In the Lal Quarter area of Abdullapur Basti, Ludhiana, the hearth of every house was cold and eyes moist. Nothing but only numbness could be felt in everyone’s body because an 8-year-old boy named Sehajpreet was murdered by his uncle, Swaran Singh who threw him alive in the canal.

Sehajpreet was apple of everyone’s eye in the whole locality. Everyone felt helpless seeing his mother, Simranjit Kaur asking for her son in front of Waheguru. Even the wife of the accused was in a state of shock and talked about shooting him herself.

The investigation carried out by the police revealed that on August 18, when Swaran Singh left the house, he met Sehaj on the way. He then asked Sehaj to follow his bike and got his bicycle parked near Ramgarhia college. He then took his nephew along with him saying that he will take him to the Golden Temple (Darbar Sahib). As soon as both of them reached Ladoval, the child was tired and started falling asleep due to which the accused decided to take him to the Katana Sahib Gurudwara on Delhi road.

He then took Sehaj with him, did the darshan, fed him langar with his own hands and also slept with him in the Gurudwara itself at night.

The next morning, at around 6, the accused was thrown alive in the Doraha Canal. The young, innocent boy struggled a lot and died. His uncle did not even look at him once after committing such a cruel act.

"Biggest Negligence of Police," alleges family

The family has alleged that the biggest negligence in this whole matter is of the police. The family gave all the information about their son to the police the night he went missing. They even told that Sehaj was seen with his uncle on the CCTV, but still the police showed a careless attitude. The family alleges that if the police had been proactive and had traced the mobile location of the accused there and then, the child could have been recovered safely. It is the fault of the police because of which their child is not with them anymore.

Police were also misled by Swaran Singh

When the accused took the child that night, the family members reached out to him and asked about Sehaj, he flatly refused although he was seen with him on the CCTV. Later, the accused switched off his phone. When he came home the next morning, he was taken into police custody. In the starting, he did not agree to the allegations and tried to mislead the police but in the end, confessed throwing Sehaj into the Doraha Canal.

“You are a monster,” says Sehaj’s mother

Simranjit Kaur, Sehaj’s mother who has been devastated by her son’s death called Swaran Singh a demon. Sehaj was born after 8 years of both her sisters. At the time he was born, the whole family was very happy. As he was the youngest in the family, Sehaj was loved by everyone.

The acquaintances of the family have revealed that they are totally in a state of shock after hearing the news as Sehaj was very close to his uncle and nobody ever thought that anything like such could happen to him.

We also spoke to Joint CP Ludhiana, Narinder Bhargav who said, "we are not at fault by any means. Instead, we cooperated with the whole family and tried to find Sehaj but unfortunately, his body was found. We tried our level best to solve this case."
