A Ludhiana Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and his gunman were killed in a road accident at midnight following which their car caught fire. ACP Sandeep Singh and gunman Paramjot Singh were travelling from Chandigarh to Ludhiana when their car collided with an oncoming car at the Dyalpura bypass in Samrala.
As per reports, the accident occurred at around 12:30 midnight. Samrala SHO Rao Varinder Singh informed that ACP Sandeep Singh and Paramjot Singh were severely injured in the accident and were rushed to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
The ACP’s Fortuner car collided head-on with an oncoming Scorpio Car. After the injured occupants of the ACP’s car, of which there were 3, were rushed to the hospital, the car caught fire. The driver of the car, Gurpreet Singh, is undergoing treatment but is in stable condition as per reports.
The SHO also informs that the Ludhiana-Chandigarh Road was operational only on one side as the other side was blocked by the farmer’s protest. The farmers are currently sitting on the highway in protest of a proposed biogas plant in their village.
The occupants of the Scorpio are not yet identified. However, Khanna police superintendent informs that FIR has been registered under the relevant sections at the Samrala Police station.
ACP Sandeep Singh is from Bathinda and is survived by a wife and toddler son. Sandeep Singh was a DSP of batch 2020 and was currently posted as ACP East Ludhiana. Gunman Paramjot Singh is from Firozpur and is survived by his wife and 5-year-old son.
