Social media blogger Bhana Sidhu was arrested by Ludhiana Police for threatening a female travel agent. After the two-day remand period ended, Bhana Sidhu was brought to the Civil Hospital for a medical before appearing in the court on Tuesday. There, in front of the camera, Bhana Sidhu declared himself innocent and said that he was being implicated while having done no wrong. He claimed that he was being implicated in a false case. His supporters also protested against the arrest.
Bhana Sidhu was giving clarification in front of the camera. Then the police personnel had to take him away in the car. Bhana Sidhu said that today he has refunded crores of rupees of tax and that he never ‘sold out’. He also said that this case has been deliberately framed on false grounds. Even after coming out of jail, he will continue his fight.
Sarpanch, family members and supporters of his village came to meet Bhana Sidhu. But no one was allowed to meet him. Sarpanch Sarabjit Singh said that Bhana Sidhu was raising the voice of the people which is the sole reason that he was implicated. They say that it is absurd that the person who returned crores of rupees was accused of blackmailing for a mere Rs 10,000. The travel agent who has filed the case has brought the victims to the fore, they said.
Bhana Sidhu was presented in the court under tight security by the police. The court sent Bhana Sidhu to judicial custody for 14 days after which he was escorted to Ludhiana jail. The female travel agent had accused Bhana Sidhu of blackmailing and threatening which led Ludhiana Police to arrest Bhana.
