Home Minister Amit Shah was on Thursday evening briefed about the Ludhiana Court Blast, which killed one and injured many. It was Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who after taking Punjab officials into the consideration, spoke to the home minister.
As per reports, the ministry of home affairs has sought a report from the Punjab administration about the incident.
Earlier today, an explosion on the second floor stormed the Ludhiana Court. The suspected EID blast killed one person and injured another five. Now a team of National Security Guards has been called to inspect the whole area.
"Bomb disposal squad is at the site. Police are conducting a search at the Court complex. A team of NSG is also coming here," said Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Ludhiana Commissioner of Police.
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi condemned the incident.
"Everybody knows the timing and the handiwork of these forces as the Assembly polls are drawing near and they are hell-bent upon hatching such conspiracies to disturb the hard-earned peace and harmony in the state. It is the need of the hour to condemn such incidents in the harshest possible words by one and all." He said.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also expressed concern and said police should get to bottom of it.
"Disturbing news of a blast at Ludhiana court complex. Saddened to know about the demise of two individuals. Praying for the recovery of those injured. Punjab Police must get to the bottom of this," Amarinder Singh tweeted.
