Ludhiana police and Counter Intelligence dismantles Babbar Khalsa module; DGP Gaurav Yadav confirms attack on Siva Sena leader

Ludhiana police and Punjab’s Counter Intelligence has successfully dismantled a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module in Ludhiana.

Punjab’s Counter Intelligence and Ludhiana Police have successfully dismantled a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module operated by foreign-based individuals named Harjit Singh alias Laddi, and Sabi. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav has confirmed the operation, which has led to the resolution of two recent petrol bomb incidents targeting Shiv Sena leaders in Ludhiana. These attacks include the 16th October 2024, bombing at the residence of Shiv Sena leader Yogesh Bakshi and the 2nd November 2024, incident at Harkirat Singh Khurana’s home in Model Town Extension, Ludhiana.

A total of four suspects have been apprehended in connection with the attacks. During the arrests, police has seized a motorcycle and two mobile phones reportedly used for tracking the movements of the targeted leaders.

After confirming the arrests, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav has praised the collaboration between Counter Intelligence and Ludhiana Police and has stated that this operation has significantly weakened terrorist attempts to create unrest in the region.

Authorities are now investigating backward and forward linkages related to the module, with additional arrests expected as they work to dismantle the network further.

Harjit Singh, alias Laddi, who is one of the masterminds behind the module, was also involved in the murder case of Vikas Prabhakar in Nangal, Punjab. He is a high-profile suspect, with a bounty of Rs 10 Lakhs announced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This operation has marked a significant step in curbing the terrorist activities in Punjab.
