Gumshuda App has been developed after a need was felt to use technology to match missing persons with recovered persons. The app is now available for download on google play store.
Giving details of the mobile app commissioner of police ludhiana said that ludhiana being a metropolitan city lot of people are reported missing on some pretext or other. Sometimes they go away from their homes after fighting with their parents on small issues or sometimes they elope with other persons. most of them are subsequently found. To stream line the process of matching missing persons with recovered persons this app has been developed. The app also has a feature to enter details of found persons kept in orphanage homes.
Public can also make entry into the App for missing as well as found persons. They can make use of the search feature by putting various filters according to age, sex, date of missing.
App also uses facial recognition to trace missing children. The app can be used by parents to report missing children and by vigilant citizens to report any vulnerable children found on the street.
By using facial recognition, the app will connect to databases of missing children in order to find a potential match. In case of a match the app will inform the user and allow him/her to see the whereabouts of the child.

The app hosts a multi-user platform that can be used to upload photos of missing children. However, uploading photos of missing children might raise privacy issues, and we plans to combat such issues as well.
Photos taken on the app will not be saved in the phone’s memory and will be deleted automatically once the user closes the app.
This app will also be useful in identification of unidentified dead bodies.
