A major overnight brawl erupted on Saturday midnight after a group of people attacked police post-Dharampura under Thana Division Number-3 in Ludhiana, Punjab. In the brawl, constable Lucky Sharma's uniform was torn and the head of the post-in-charge Jaswinder Singh was injured. The attackers also broke the door of the police post and scuffled with clerk (Munshi) Harish Sharma.

As per the information received, the Post-Incharge had set up a checkpoint outside Shingar Cinema. He was checking vehicles at night. During this, the police stopped a father-son duo riding an Activa. When they were asked for documents, an argument started between the two sides. As a result, the post in charge took the father-son duo to the post to interrogate them. However, the accused son ran away from the post. After some time, he brought some people with him, who created a ruckus outside the post. 

As per post in-charge Jaswinder Singh,  on Friday, in the area of New Hargobind Nagar, miscreants on a bike snatched a vehicle from an Activa rider. After this incident, they recovered the miscreants' bike, but the snatchers were not caught. As a result, Jaswinder had set up a check post to catch the snatchers. Accused Sarabjit Singh and his son Harsidak were coming at a high speed on an Activa. When they tried to stop the Activa and question them, they introduced themselves as journalists. According to Jaswinder, the father-son duo misbehaved with them.

The post-in-charge said that Harsidak fled from there without cooperating in the questioning and brought hundreds of people. They attacked the post. Someone in the crowd hit him on the forehead with a sharp object causing injury. Constable Lucky Sharma's uniform was torn. The door of the police post was broken. The attackers even broke the flower pots lying outside the post.

The Police are now registering a case against both father and son. The matter has been brought to the notice of senior police officers.

On the other hand, accused Harsidak has said that he was going home with his father Sarabjit Singh after closing his shop. Police officials stopped them on the road. They were told to drive the Activa slowly. According to Harsidak, his Activa was going very slowly. 3 police officials stopped them. Those police officials were drunk.

Harsidak has said that he has a video in which the police officials themselves are admitting that they were drunk. Harsidak said that the police officials slapped his father Sarabjit Singh. They also removed his turban. Police beat him and his father with sticks and pushed them into the police post. His mobile was also broken in the police clash.

Accused Sarabjit Singh's wife Sarabjit Kaur reportedly said that her husband and son had been beaten up by the police. Their turbans were also removed. Sarabjit Kaur alleges that when she went to the police post to inquire about her husband, the police officials also misbehaved with her. She has demanded from the Police Commissioner that the case be investigated.
