Due to the scorching heat in Punjab, the Punjab government announced holidays in schools starting from May 21. Despite this, many schools were opened in Ludhiana, flouting the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and children were coming to school in the scorching heat. This was also opposed by the family members of the students.
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heat wave in Punjab and record-breaking heat is expected to hit the state in the coming days. Punjab CM’s announcement of holidays in schools was issued from May 20. According to the information received, many schools were opening in Ludhiana, due to which the family members complained to Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney. Taking cognizance of this, DC Sakshi Sawhney has issued strict orders.
It is being told that during the investigation, names of 10 schools of Ludhiana have come to light which were open despite the orders. These include:
- Tender International School
- Joseph Sacred Heart School
- South City
- Guru Nanak Public School Basisian
- Guru Harkrishna Adarsh School Dhandra
- Sarabha Nagar Pinky Play Way School
- Harikrishna School Ludhiana
- e-Canadian School Ludhiana
- Shri Ram Universal School Sarabha Nagar
- Guru Nanak Public School Mullanpur
- Central Model School
Ludhiana DC has issued a show cause notice while ordering strict action against these schools. Along with this, a letter has been sent to the Education Department asking for further action.
