Sunny Bhalla, a Congress councilor and close aide of former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, was arrested by Vigilance on Wednesday. Sunny is accused of being involved in the Ludhiana Transportation Tender scam. Today he was produced in the court, from where Vigilance got his remand for 2 days.
In the investigation of the transportation tender scam, it has come to the fore that Sunny Bhalla has invested in the transportation tender through Minister Ashu. Vigilance will now start investigating the accounts and other property records of Sunny Bhalla.
Giving information, SSP Vigilance Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu said that Sunny Bhalla was named in the case after the matter of investment came to light.
Sunny Bhalla has worked as a contractor for the Municipal Corporation. He was considered close to Ashu when Ashu was a councilor. Sunny Bhalla's contacts began to expand as soon as Ashu won the 2012 election on the Congress ticket and was elected as an MLA. In the ward where Ashu used to be a councilor, Sunny Bhalla's wife contested the election and won.
Sunny Bhalla attended each of Ashu's private events. At the same time, Sunny Bhalla used to stand with Ashu in all kinds of political battles, due to which today Vigilance has started interrogating Sunny Bhalla considering him as important as Meenu Malhotra.

On August 22, Vigilance arrested Ashu in connection with the transportation tender scam. He was arrested by the Vigilance team while getting a haircut at a salon.
For almost 8 days, Ashu remained under Vigilance's custody. After this, he was sent to Nabha jail in judicial custody. Ashu was then taken to Jalandhar Vigilance on transit remand from there.
Ashu filed the bail application in the High Court, which was rejected. Vigilance has so far arrested former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, contractor Teluram, and agent Krishan Lal while investigating the matter. In this case, a total of 17 people have been named so far. 7 named accused are absconding.
After the arrest of Sunny Bhalla, where the troubles of the rest of Ashu's close friends will increase, the names of many people are likely to be revealed in this case.
