As per the latest directions of CM Captain Amarinder Singh, liquor vends were to resume operations in the state today but Youth Akali Wing couldn't settle their dispute with the governemnt, thus, opened a milk vend contract outside the liquor vend contract near city's most accessible point--Ghanta Ghar Chownk. The Youth Akali leaders were seen distributing milk to the people gathered to collect liquor.
Reportedly, the people standing is serpentine queues waiting for their chance to buy liquor said this is a good initiative by the youth leadership and the government should not open the stores.
Ludhiana Youth Akali Wing President Gurdeep Gosha said that people are battling against the contagious disease of Coronavirus, they are dying to save their lives, but the Punjab govt otherwise is conspiring to collect its revenue. President Gosha further added that with the opening of liquor vends, crime rate will also surge in the state. Addicts would try to raise money for their daily dosage, hence, thefts would increase which is not accurate.
