As the cases of Covid-19 have again started to increase in India and with India's active caseload stands at 1.46 lakh cases today, the country is about to launch three more 'Made in India' vaccines.
Dr Reddy's laboratories, Serum Institute of India and Biological E are the three firms are in various advanced stages, as per a report published in a leading portal.
They are also preparing data for submission to get on to Phase 3 trials after getting approval from the authorities in India.
Biological E has collaborated with Johnson & Johnson and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. The phase 3 trials of Biological E candidate licensed from Baylor college is expected to start in next week.
Dr Reddy had also applied for approval from the drug regulatory authority in India on February 19 for Sputnik V vaccine which is a made in Russia vaccine.
Sputnik V had shown 92% efficacy against the virus. These efficacy late stage results were published in The Lancet.
The Serum Institute of India is also manufacturing another vaccine in the country apart from producing 'Covishield' that has already approved for use in India.
Although, Covishield is originally made by Oxford-AstraZeneca but SII manufactured it in India. Now the firm is developing a second vaccine of the US drug maker Novavax in India.
