Trains on Delhi Metro Magenta Line restarted after a massive fire raging for nearly hours in a furniture market in Shaheen Bagh was put out on Friday, officials said.
No injuries were reported in the fire, which had spread across the nearly 2,000square yard market.
“Train services have resumed between Botanical Garden and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh. Thank you for your patience,” Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted.
Early on Friday morning, a Delhi Metro service on Magenta line was affected after a major fire broke out at the furniture market near Kalindi Kunj metro station.

According to the Fire Department, there were no reports of causalities in the incident. The fire tenders are trying to bring the blaze under control. “Train movement has been stopped temporarily between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and Kalindi Kunj due to smoke and fire from a fire underneath the section. We regret the inconvenience,” the DMRC said in a statement.
It later added, "Short loops are being run between Janak Puri West and Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh. No service between Kalindi Kunj and Botanical Garden temporarily."
Seventeen fire tenders were rushed to the spot in Kalindi Kunj. The fire was reported around 5:55 am and it is yet to be doused down.
The reason behind the huge fire is not known yet. Delhi Metro services on the Magenta Line were widely affected due to the fire during peak hours. The DMRC issued a statement to advise passengers to take the Blue Line to reach Noida instead of Magenta Line, which was disrupted for several hours.
