The Maharashtra government has announced that the five-level unlock process will begin from Monday. The restriction will be lifted on the basis of the positivity rate and occupancy of beds with oxygen support in each district.
According to the government, the plan will have five levels, and districts and cities whose weekly positivity rate is less than 5 per cent and occupancy rate of oxygen beds are less than 25 per cent will be put in level one. Areas with up to a 5 per cent positivity rate will be included in level 2 of the plan.
The areas within level 1 will have no restrictions. In level 2, some of the stringent restrictions will be relaxed. Areas under ‘Level 5’ will have lockdown-like curbs.
Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar in a press conference said, “Level 1 includes 18 districts and these areas will witness unlockdown. While five districts will see Level 2 of unlocking, there are 10 districts in Level 3 and two in Level 4. The rest will be in Level 5.”

Level 1
In Level 1, malls, theatres and all shops will function normally. Restaurants and other economic and recreational activities like gyms and salons will be allowed to remain open. Trains and other public services will be allowed and marriages, funerals and other social gatherings can be held without restrictions.
Vijay Wadettiwar revealed, “Level 1 will have Aurangabad, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Dhule, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Jalgaon, Jalna, Latur, Nagpur, Nanded, Nashik, Parbhani, Thane, Washim, Wardha and Yavatmal districts.”
Level 2
In Level 2, Timings for essential and non-essential shops will be regular and malls, theatres can operate with 50 per cent capacity. Restaurants will operate with 50 per cent capacity and. Trains will be for specified categories and parks can remain open regularly. Private and government offices will operate regularly. Shooting is allowed at regular times and gathering should take place with 50 per cent capacity. People can attend the funeral with no restriction. Manufacturing and other industries can resume and gyms and salons can operate at 50 % capacity.
Districts within Level 2 are Ahmednagar, Amravati, Hingoli, Mumbai and Dhule.

Level 3
Where Level 3 includes Akola, Beed, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Osmanabad, Sangli, Satara, Sindhudurg and Solapur; Pune and Raigad will open later. In level three, shops can operate till 4 pm. Malls and theatres with single-screen will remain closed. Restaurants can operate with 50 per cent capacity till 4 pm. Public places can remain open from 5 am to 9 pm and shooting will be allowed. Social gatherings will have 50 per cent capacity. Local trains will work for people belonging to essential service categories.
Level 4
Essential shops will remain open till 4 pm and non-essential will remain closed. Malls and theatres will be closed. Restaurants will have only takeaways. Local trains will operate only for people belonging to essential services, and government offices will work with 25 per cent capacity. Shooting will be allowed in bio bubbles. People won’t be allowed to step outside on weekends.
No social gatherings will be allowed, marriages shall not have more than 25 people and only 20 people will be allowed in funerals. Salons and gyms will operate with 50% capacity and only for vaccinated people

Level 5
Here, no movement will be allowed. Only essential shops will operate till 4 pm and no restrictions on medical shops. Restaurants will open for deliveries and non-essential shops, malls and theatres will remain shut.
No shooting, social gathering will be permitted. Marriages can be attended by only family members and funerals can have a maximum of 20 people.
Constructions will be allowed and salons and gyms will be closed.
