Mahakumbh News has shaken India as crores of devotees arrived in Prayagraj on Wednesday to take a holy dip in Sangam on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. The arrival of crores of people pushed the authorities and forces deployed at the spot on the back foot, ultimately resulting in the Mahakumbh Stampede. Amid Kumbh News, Mahakumbh Stampede Video has surfaced on social media and it is really disturbing. Despite the Yogi government's claim of full-proof arrangements, the stampede in Prayagraj has injured many devotees including 30 women as per IANS.
In Mahakumbh Stampede Video, many devotees were seen crossing over the temporary bride to save themselves from the jam-packed crowd. Security forces deployed at the spot were also seen giving directions to people trying to cross over the bridge. As of now, the situation is under control, however, the Yogi Adityanath Government is being slammed on social media.
After the Kumbh stampede, Niranjani Akhara stopped the bathing procession. Some Akharas have not come out for bathing at the moment. Akharas have postponed Amrit Snan. As per reports, PM Modi has taken information about the accident from CM Yogi.
Appeal to maintain restraint
According to the video that surfaced from the spot, some women and children have also been injured. The situation is said to be under control right now. Maha Kumbh Nagar Administration has appealed to the devotees not to pay attention to rumors and maintain restraint.
It is said that a stampede broke out at around 2 o'clock late at night before Amrit Snan on the Sangam coast of Prayagraj. According to an eyewitness, people started running as soon as the stampede started. No official information has been received from the administration yet.
As per reports, many devotees also fainted on the banks of Sangam amidst the stampede. Shaiv Akharas have stopped the Amrit Snan from being held on Mauni Amavasya due to a heavy crowd. Sadhus, saints, and Naga sanyasis of Mahanirvani and Niranjani Akhara did not come out for bathing.
Thousands of Naga sanyasis are present in the cantonment itself.
UP CM Yogi Adityanth's Reaction to Mahakumbh Stampede
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath addressing the media said, "Around 8-10 crore devotees are present in Prayagraj today. There is continuous pressure due to the movement of devotees towards the Sangam Nose. A few devotees have suffered serious injuries when they tried to cross barricading on Akhara Marg. The injured been shifted to hospitals for medical treatment. Since Mauni Amavasya mahurat started last night, a large number of devotees have been coming in.
The PM has taken stock of the situation four times till now. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Governor Anandiben Patel are also continuously taking reports of the situation. The situation in Prayagraj is under control but the crowd size remains massive. The saints of different Akhaaras have humbly said that devotees should take holy dip first and once crowds reduce Akharas will proceed for the holy dip. There are large crowds at Sangam Nose, Nag Vasuki Marg, and Sangam Marg.
I appeal to the devotees to not pay attention to any rumour. Ghats have been made in the entire Kumbh area, devotees don't need to move towards Sangam nose only. Devotees should take holy dip at the ghats nearest to them. We are ensuring proper medical treatment of the injured persons. The Railways have organised special trains from different stations of Prayagraj region to take devotees back to their respective destinations."
